Why bother?

The internet economy is still growing in the UK, by over 10% per annum according to latest figures.

Using the internet represents the most cost effective way of attracting new customers, whatever the nature of your business. Retailers can add an internet shop to sell to a wider customer base; tradesmen and professionals such as architects, accountants, car repair and electricians can show up in local search as people go online to find someone nearby. Business to business sales will benefit from a professional web presence, attracting customers from across the UK or from your local area.

If you don't have a web site, or have one you or a friend put together, then the chances are you can significantly grow your business and attract new customers. We offer everything from low cost yet professional "brochure" web sites to domain searching and bespoke web sites linked to Facebook and Twitter.

Low cost brochure website

What is a "brochure" website?

Web sites which give an overview of your business, together with contact details are often called "brochure" websites. They're giving customers information and an impression of your business, together with any promotional material and the opportunity to contact you to discuss further. Typically a brochure web site has 1 - 3 pages.

Typically a brochure site won't cost very much so it's worth getting it done professionally.

What we provide

Our brochure websites can contain services, products or a portfolio that showcases all your examples of work. Our brochure websites are generally simple, easy to navigate, and professional. They tend to be created using a clean crisp design taking into account the company’s colours and branding. Information (both text and image) will be well laid out and easy to read.

Like all our designs, awareness that people are increasingly using mobile as well as desktop devices to access websites is taken into account at all stages. This means the site will be accessible to all.

How does it work?

Imagine websites as salespeople who work around the clock to inform people of who you are and what you can do for them. Many companies looking to expand use websites as a cost effective tool for promotion. Brochure websites are a low cost solution to showcase your company's portfolio, and present your corporate face to the world.

Bespoke web design

What is bespoke web design?

Web sites which need frequent updating, or have specific needs (for example a shop) are best developed as a one-off site. We call these bespoke web sites. They may include the ability for you or your administrator to update text and images; they may require close integration with social media sites such as Facebook or Twitter. They may pull in video posted to YouTube.

wsfc.jpgExamples of bespoke web design projects are the West Swindon Family Centre which specified the ability for centre users to rapidly create events and news as well as high levels of readability, and imagebank which includes specialised image filtering and presentation.

What we provide

We have in house a specialist bespoke web development team called Green Hat Design. They are specialists working with content management systems and ensure that all your requirements are met.

How does it work?

Let us know what you have in mind and we'll present you with a proposal with costings. We'll work with you to ensure users of your web site can access what they need quickly and achieve their goals effectively. We use rapid development technology together with scenarios for different users of the site to prioritise work and present regular updates to you for feedback. In this way you get the site you want and there are no surprises along the way!

Site audit

What is a site audit?

graph.jpgYou may already have a web site but want to know how it stands up in the ever-developing internet world. You may find business from your site is dropping off but you're not sure why. We find a lot of people have built their own web site or asked a friend to do so; the design may be great but the optimisation in an internet increasingly complex and competitive may be missing. A site audit will look at a number of factors, including;

  • How your site performs against search terms you want to show up in
  • What changes would improve your ranking in Google search
  • How quickly your site loads, and what may be slowing it down
  • How your site performs on mobile devices such as iPad and smart phones
  • How your site performs against current web standards
  • What cookies your site uses and whether they are in breach of new EU laws
  • Whether your site could be "hijacked" or used for malware distribution
  • Whether your site is on any blacklist (which could affect your emails as well as your site visibility)

The aim of such a review is to ensure you're making the most of the internet, and to suggest improvements where appropriate.

What we provide

Our professional web audit and testing team will review your site and test it. We'll give you a complete report of the findings, together with recommendations to improve performance where appropriate.

How does it work?

We have our own testing tools for security and audit, and use at least 12 different tools to review and audit your site. We need your permission to do this, and you'll need to provide us with;

  • the web site address
  • written authorisation to perform the audit
  • written confirmation you own the web site we are auditing
  • a list of search terms you'd like your web site to show up on

Hosting & domain setup

What is hosting and domain setup?

pkg_sq_m.jpgWeb sites and emails are based on a domain and run on a host. Typically a web domain ends with .com, .co.uk or .net. We can work with you to find the best domain for your business. Domain names affect your ranking in search and also the professionalism and reach of your business, so they do matter! We'll find available domains relevant to your business and send you a list of possible domains. Once you've selected your preference we can register this in your name (or ours, if you prefer) and it's all yours. We can also provide web hosting for your email and web site, and can set up your site and email services for you. This will mean your web site is visible on the internet (at www.yourdomain.co.uk, for example), and that you can send and receive emails to your preferred user names (yourname(at)yourdomain.co.uk for example).

What we provide

We provide the expertise to search for available domains and suggest alternatives which will meet your business objectives. We will also register your domain of choice and set up web hosting on this domain, enabling you to use email and display your web site on this domain name.

How does it work?

We will discuss with you the range of options for domain names and then search for available domains. We'll present you with a number of alternatives for you to choose your preferred domain. We'll then register this for you and set up web hosting services on the domain of your choice. This means that you'll be able to send and receive email and your web site will be visible.
